The temperature is expected to exceed 36 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country, especially in the west.

Experts have warned the public to avoid excessive exposure to the scorching sun, encouraging people to drink a lot of water, avoid venturing outdoors unless necessary, refrain from exercise and not to drink alcohol, which causes dehydration.

Doctors said senior citizens and people with circulatory problems were among those especially at risk.

Meteorologists also issued warnings of possible storms with fierce wind in some areas, adding that it is advised to monitor weather forecasts, as conditions might change rapidly during extremely hot weather.
