NATO will be decreasing its spending in Poland, cutting funding by up to 40 percent.
The daily Rzeczpospolita reports that the General Staff of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization has estimated budget cuts up to 40 percent in the NATO Security Investment Program (NSIP). The paper writes that this year has already seen problems with the program as complaints have been filed that funds for construction projects have not been dispensed on time.
The Alliance’s financial problems are a result of the economic crisis and budget cuts carried out by NATO.
“On Monday, the Defense Ministry will look for solutions that will allow us to continue modernizing our military bases and decrease problems we are experiencing with contractors,” says Colonel Wieslaw Grzegorzewski, press spokesperson for the ministry.
NATO had planned 750 million euro for investments in Poland, to be realized by the year 2014. (mmj)
