“President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will welcome President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda of Poland for their first official visit to the White House on September 18, 2018,” the statement said.

It added that "the visit takes place as Poland celebrates the centennial year of the recovery of its independence and just over a year since President Trump’s historic visit to Warsaw on July 5 and 6, 2017."

During their meeting, Duda and Trump "will address ways to strengthen the United States-Poland strategic partnership and plan to discuss topics of mutual interest, including trade, military, and security matters,” according to the White House press secretary.

The two presidents discussed military cooperation during a brief meeting ahead of a NATO summit in Brussels in July, according to Duda’s chief of staff, Krzysztof Szczerski.

In January, news reports said Duda and Trump held talks on energy and business projects at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Poland’s foreign minister told public broadcaster Polish Radio in mid-June that arrangements were being made for Duda to meet Trump during a visit to America.

Trump's security advisor John Bolton in late July confirmed that there would be a meeting between the Polish and US presidents in Washington this year.

While in Warsaw in July last year, Trump said that America "has never been closer to Poland." He also praised Poland as an “example for others who seek freedom.”
